General Meeting 1/17/23
As some members are participating in Dry January, the NYC Homebrewers’ Guild met at Burp Castle to try some non-alcoholic beers! The members blind tasted alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions of a European lager, a wheat ale, and an IPA to see if they could spot the difference.
In general, tasters found the Athletic Hazy IPA to be the closest to a similar alcoholic beer (Bell’s Light) Hearted. Heineken made a good non-alcoholic version as well, though it lacked the body and balance of it’s full-alcohol counterpart. Finally, the Erdinger Hefeweizen was sweet and wort like - a far cry from its alcoholic counterpart.
Next month we’ll be sharing our successes and beers from Homebrew Alley. Please come ready to share your entries.
